Knox's story

Knox was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma cancer on 2/7/23 he was only 8 years old. Before this day he was just a little happy go lucky little guy - he loved long walks, hiking, being outside in the sun, pup cups, snuggles, barking at everything, sitting in the window, visits to the farm, camping, chasing rabbits, and a million other things.
On 3/16/23, Knox turned 9 years old.
When we found out Knox was sick there was no way this is where his story ends. We spoke with our Vet and we told them we wanted him to be in the least amount of pain and wanted the most time with him - that’s when we choose to do chemotherapy. We know it was expensive  and we knew it would be a long journey. It was the longest 21 weeks of our lives. 16 chemo treatments. On 7/5/23, Knox had his last chemo treatment - he was in remission. After that he lived his best life - he was back to himself. We went on more walks, we went hiking again, he sunbathed all the time, he went camping, he chased more rabbits, more visits to the farm - he did what he wanted. This was Knox’s world - we were just living in it.
On 2/26/24, we found out that Knox’s cancer was back - this time was different. We knew we couldn’t put him through the chemo treatments again because it was so hard the first time and it was hard because dogs don’t understand why they are going through it. We decided to let him live out his best life while he could and he did.
On 3/16/24, Knox turned 10 years old.
On 3/20/24 we started him on a steroid pill to help him eat and make him feel comfortable. We were told the pills would last three weeks..But not surprised Knox passed that three weeks and he was on them for 18 weeks and 1 day. While he was on those pills be was himself again, he was happy, he was comfortable, and if you didn’t know he had cancer you would have never guessed.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and on 7/26/24 our sweet Knox crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He is now pain free and chasing all the rabbits.
Knox’s story is not over - it is just the beginning.
